25 Bwlch Cwm Dulyn, Dolbenmaen
PRN 3345 NGR SH50524862

A substantial cairn 11m diameter set on a low prominence on the edge of a plateau area but with wide ranging views to the W and N. It is of unusual appearance with two lengths of perpendicular walling on the W and S sides but no sign of similar walling on the other sides. The walling is quite high and well-preserved so not prehistoric. There are two possibilities - either the walling has been added at a recent date or the whole cairn is more recent. It is difficult to understand why either should be the case. It seems too large to have been built as a recent memorial. A more recent small conical cairn surmounts the whole giving it a ziggurat-like appearance.
