Welcome to the Gwynedd Archaeological Trust Website

Gwynedd Archaeological Trust (GAT) is one of four Welsh Archaeological Trusts providing advice on the historic environment across Wales.

We are an educational charity established in 1974, and provide education and outreach activities for schools and communities.

We are tasked with maintaining and providing access to the Historic Environment Record as well as providing advice on the archaeological implications of development proposals to the planning departments of unitary authorities and private developers

Gwynedd Archaeological Trust also carries out a wide range of archaeological services for public and private clients including survey and excavation.

Gwynedd Archaeological Planning Service is a separate and autonomous section of the Gwynedd Archaeological Trust which provides specialist impartial archaeological advice to the Local Planning Authorities of North-West Wales, Gwynedd, Anglesey and Conwy and to others engaged in development in the public and private sectors.
