Bedd Branwen

In field south of public footpath to Glanalaw house , from minor road 1km E of Llanddeusant.

A Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Private but the farmer allows visitors when there are no hay or other crops in field.

A Bronze Age burial mound that was built over a pre-existing standing stone. Excavation showed it to include a dozen cremation burials, some with rich grave goods (in Bangor Museum). Notable for its identification as being the mound described as the grave of Branwen, who died here of a broken heart, by the river Alaw, in the Tales of the Mabinbogi.
